Fill Pack Update

November 17, 2009 Uncategorized Leave a comment

Hi, Per here with a quick note about the [intlink id="51" type="page"]Fill Pack[/intlink].

We have a couple of sound clips up to showcase just a tiny portion of the content in the fill pack. The finished product will contain over 900 fills in 10 time signatures, played in 4 different tempos. As usual the focus is advanced hard-to-play stuff, but there are also some rather “normal-sounding” fills in there.

[intlink id="245" type="post"]The sound clips can be found here[/intlink].

The Fill Pack will ship in early December.

General MIDI Instructions

April 6, 2009 Articles and Tutorials Leave a comment

Instructions on how to install the GM files and tips & tricks on how to use them.

InstallationGeneral MIDI Drag and Drop
Where you install the General MIDI files is not as critical as with EZDrummer. However, a well organized MIDI library can really speed up the process of songwriting, arranging etc, so if you don’t have a MIDI library, we strongly recommend that you create one and store your OddGrooves GM files there. A great tool to help you organize your library is Toontrack EZPlayer, which keeps track of all your MIDI files.

In use
To add a file to your arrangement you either import MIDI file using menu commands or drag-and-drop from Explorer/Finder directly into your arrangement depending on the functionality of your DAW host. For example, in Apple Logic Studio, you choose File – Import and then select the MIDI file. If you are unsure, please consult your DAW documentation.

Compatibility

OddGrooves GM products will work with any drum sampler or sound module that supports General MIDI. It is however important to note that our products are MIDI files. MIDI only tells the sampler or sound module what to play in terms of note number, velocity etc. It does not create the sound, and what comes out of your speakers depends a lot on your sampler sound module.
With dedicated drum sampling software, such as Toontrack EZDrummer, every step is taken to ensure that it sounds like real drums played by a real drummer, with multi-sampled velocity layers etc. All sound modules are not that sofisticated, and the end result may sound crude and strange if your drum sampler is not up to standards.

EZdrummer MIDI Files Instructions

How to use OddGrooves drum loops with Toontrack EZdrummer

EDIT April 22, 2012: We got some questions regarding the installation process and it seems there is an easier way. Here goes:

In EZdrummer, first click on the Help menu (question mark in the upper right corner), then choose User MIDI Folder and navigate up one level (this is important) to the folder simply called MIDI. That’s  where you should put any third party MIDI files.

To get the OddGrooves folder in place, drag it into the EZdrummer grooves MIDI folder.

Done!

Old version:

Instructions on how to install the EZDrummer files. Click the images to the right for a visual guide.
First things first: EZDrummer is a registered trademark of Toontrack. To use our product, you will of course need to have EZDrummer installed on your computer. Please visit Toontrack for more info.
Unzip the file OddGrooves_<Basic, Advanced, Crazy>_Drumming_EZD.zip in the EZ Drummer MIDI Folder. On a PC the MIDI files are typically located at C:Program FilesEZdrummerMIDI and on a Mac it should be Library/Application Support/EZDrummer/MIDI. Do not put the files in the “My Midifiles” folder, as some of the material will not work correctly.

If you are unsure, please consult your EZDrummer documentation.
Once installed, the OddGrooves files will appear in the User Libraries section of EZDrummer. You can then drag-and-drop the OddGrooves MIDI files into your arrangement exactly the same way as the stock MIDI that came with EZDrummer.

EZdrummer MIDI files Drag and dropCompatibility of EZdrummer MIDI files with OddGrooves drum loops

OddGrooves MIDI files work with any DAW that supports EZ Drummer (Logic, Cubase, Garageband etc). To put it simply: If EZDrummer is running trouble-free on your computer, so will OddGrooves drum loops.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

OddGrooves Newsletter October 2008

September 30, 2008 Blog Leave a comment

Hello there and welcome to the October edition of the OddGrooves.com Newsletter! First we would like to say Congratulations to our friends at Toontrack for the raving reviews that Superior Drummer 2.0 is getting in virtually every music magazine on the planet. Good job, lads and lasses! Of course, we already knew that it’s a great product and have therefore made all of OddGrooves MIDI libraries fully compatible with Superior.

FourFour Pack is out!

The long-awaited [intlink id="45" type="page"]FourFour Drumming[/intlink] pack is finally out! Containing over 1600 grooves, the FourFour pack is targeted at the – dare we say it – more mainstream-oriented composer/musician/producer in need of not-so-odd-but-still-advanced-and-wellplayed grooves. And there’s lots of goodies for the prog-frogs and fusion geeks (like ourselves) too. Plenty of polyrhythms and odd stuff that add up to 4/4 after a number of bars (7/8+9/8, 5/8+5/8+6/8 etc). All grooves are arranged for Toontrack EZdrummer/Superior 2.0 and General MIDI. So, if you like Magnus’ sense of groove, timing and flow when playing odd meters, you’re gonna love what he does in 4/4. The FourFour Pack is the perfect companion to the Basic and Advanced packs and feature lots of different variations and tempos, not to mention a bunch of very cool fills. Check it out at the [intlink id="9" type="page"]Drum Loop Shop[/intlink]!

OddGrooves Custom Shop

What? You want Magnus to lay down some custom grooves on your tune? Sure, no problem! We are happy to announce the launch the OddGrooves Custom Shop, which is sort of an online session musician service, where we provide not only drums but also guitars, keyboards and bass. MIDI or audio, your choice. Watch this space closely for updates.

Crazy Pack Update

The updated Crazy Drumming Pack contains a General MIDI converted version as well as a few minor fixes to the EZdrummer/Superior version. If you already bought the Crazy Pack you will get an e-mail with a free download link to the updated version very shortly.

Price increase in November

While trying hard to keep our prices starving-musician-friendly, we need to adjust our prices somewhat to be able to keep bringing you new grooves. The good news for you is that this won’t happen until November, so all of our products will be available at the current low price until the end of October. We will also introduce several new bundles to save you some dough when buying more than one product at our shop. For the full price list,[intlink id="9" type="page"] look here.[/intlink]

Customer Sound Clips

We have received a couple of great tunes that feature our grooves from Lazslo Spiro and Dirk Reinking, which can be enjoyed at our Customer Sound Clips section. And we want to hear more, so keep’em coming!
