We are happy to announce the winner of the Free Pack Contest...
It's...
...Drum roll in 9/8...
Daniel Hogan with the song "Beparwa". Daniel wins the entire OddGrooves collection with over 7000 grooves. While all entries are very good, we think Daniel's song stands out. It's creative, musical and outside-the-box in an unexpected genre. So congrats Daniel!
Runners-up are Charlotte McMillan, Tony Galasso and Mike Lockett, who each win a 10-dollar gift coupon to be used in our shop. Good work!
We think that these entries show that you can achieve some pretty cool results with our free grooves.

We have now updated all of our grooves to include mapping for Sonic Reality's I-MAP format (free update of course for existing customers).
Free Pack Contest
The contest is now over.
We got a great suggestion from one of our customers: How about a Free Pack contest? As you can imagine, the answer was a resounding YES, OF COURSE!
The rules are simple:
• Download our free MIDI drumming pack
• Compose and record a short piece of music using the free pack grooves as drums
• Any genre is accepted
• A little creative tweaking of the MIDI files is allowed
• Send it in mp3 format to per at oddgrooves.com
• Deadline is January 15, 2010
• We will post it to oddgrooves.com along with a link to your website, myspace etc
• The jury consists of Magnus and Per (and NO, we can’t be bribed!)
The winner gets the full set of the available OddGrooves products (worth almost 130 dollars) or a gift card of equal value if you already have some of our packs.

Fill Pack Update
Hi, Per here with a quick note about the Fill Pack.
We have a couple of sound clips up to showcase just a tiny portion
of the content in the fill pack. The finished product will contain over
900 fills in 10 time signatures, played in 4 different tempos. As usual
the focus is advanced hard-to-play stuff, but there are also some
rather "normal-sounding" fills in there.
The Fill Pack will ship in early December.
Oddnews November 2009
It's autumn here in Stockholm and just a
moment ago I could swear I heard the leaves falling from the trees outside in a
5/8 rhythm. Which probably means that I should take a break from editing drum
grooves right now. Anyway, here comes the November edition of OddNews!

Download Fourtyfour Sixteen
We have just finished a brand new tune that we call Fourtyfour Sixteen. Kind of a strange song title, huh? Well, the title actually derives from the song's main time signature, which is 44/16. Or one could argue that the time sig alternates between 27/16 and 17/16, but we found it easier to keep track of what we were doing when we counted 44/16. Oh well, let's not debate music theory. Hello there and welcome to the October edition of the OddGrooves.com Newsletter! First we would like to say Congratulations to our friends at Toontrack for the raving reviews that Superior Drummer 2.0 is getting in virtually every music magazine on the planet. Good job, lads and lasses! Of course, we already knew that it's a great product and have therefore made all of OddGrooves MIDI libraries fully compatible with Superior.
FourFour Pack is out!
The long-awaited FourFour Drumming pack is finally out! Containing over 1600 grooves, the FourFour pack is targeted at the - dare we say it - more mainstream-oriented composer/musician/producer in need of not-so-odd-but-still-advanced-and-wellplayed grooves. And there's lots of goodies for the prog-frogs and fusion geeks (like ourselves) too. Plenty of polyrhythms and odd stuff that add up to 4/4 after a number of bars (7/8+9/8, 5/8+5/8+6/8 etc). All grooves are arranged for Toontrack EZdrummer/Superior 2.0 and General MIDI. So, if you like Magnus' sense of groove, timing and flow when playing odd meters, you're gonna love what he does in 4/4. The FourFour Pack is the perfect companion to the Basic and Advanced packs and feature lots of different variations and tempos, not to mention a bunch of very cool fills. OddGrooves Custom Shop
What? You want Magnus to lay down some custom grooves on your tune? Sure, no problem! We are happy to announce the launch the OddGrooves Custom Shop, which is sort of an online session musician service, where we provide not only drums but also guitars, keyboards and bass. MIDI or audio, your choice. Watch this space closely for updates.
Crazy Pack Update
The updated Crazy Drumming Pack contains a General MIDI converted version as well as a few minor fixes to the EZdrummer/Superior version. If you already bought the Crazy Pack you will get an e-mail with a free download link to the updated version very shortly.
Price increase in November
While trying hard to keep our prices starving-musician-friendly, we need to adjust our prices somewhat to be able to keep bringing you new grooves. The good news for you is that this won't happen until November, so all of our products will be available at the current low price until the end of October. We will also introduce several new bundles to save you some dough when buying more than one product at our shop. For the full price list, look here.

We have received a couple of great tunes that feature our grooves from Lazslo Spiro and Dirk Reinking, which can be enjoyed at our Customer Sound Clips section. And we want to hear more, so keep'em coming!

Four/Four pack released!
We have had LOTS of requests for more common style grooves by people who love Magnus Brandell's drumming but aren't quite ready for the odd stuff yet. As a result, a new OddGrooves pack with a collection of over 1500 4/4 grooves, has been released. Get it at the Groove Shop!
Basic & Advanced updated!
The basic and Advanced packs are now updated with more groove variations, extra material and a few fixes. The good news for you is that the price will be the same until the end of the summer 2008. After that, there will be a price increase. So why not head on over to the Groove Shop?
As announced earlier, the updates are free of charge for existing customers.
We will be sending out download links shortly.
Update coming up!
We are working intensely on a major update of our Basic, Advanced and Crazy Drumming MIDI libraries. They will feature full General MIDI compatibility and include lots of more material (variations of the existing grooves and some completely new grooves as well) and will be available at the the Groove Shop shortly.
If you already are a customer, this update will be free of charge.

Greetings music lover, this is the OddGrooves Newsletter June 2008 edition!
OddGrooves Crazy Drumming
It's finally out! The long-awaited monster pack containing 1800 grooves is now available for online purchase here at the Groove Shop. The time signatures included in this pack are 3/8, 11/8, 13/8, 15/8, 17/8, 13/16, 15/16, and 19/16. All the usual ride and hihat variations, fills, jams etc are there, plus a bunch of new alternatives that will make the Crazy pack a perfect foundation for your not very danceable masterpiece.
The Crazy pack is priced at 34.95 USD but during June we have a special introductory price of 29.95 USD. So hurry up!
The Crazy pack is available in EZdrummer format only. We have omitted the General MIDI format thanks to a neat little tool called Toontrack EZplayer pro, which enables you to map your MIDI to virtually any drum sampler on the market. You should check it out in detail at Toontrack's website.
Customer Sound Clips
Well, you heard our soundclips (and hopefully they convinced you that you were in desperate need of our grooves ;-) Now we want to hear YOUR tunes that you recorded using OddGrooves MIDI Libraries. It doesn't matter if you bought the grooves or downloaded the free ones, all submissions are welcome. We will put the song up on www.oddgrooves.com and link to your website/Myspace etc.

Four/Four Pack
We have had LOTS of requests for more common style grooves in 4/4 by people who love Magnus Brandell's playing but aren't quite ready for the odd stuff. As a result, the next OddGrooves pack will be a collection of 4/4 grooves, tentatively named OddGrooves Four/Four. Naturally, we couldn't resist adding some oddness to this pack, so it will contain the following elements:
Polyrhythms: 4/4 grooves and fills with triple, quintuple, septuple or nonuple feel.
Odd to Even: Groupings of odd meter grooves that add up to 4/4 after a couple of bars. Examples of this are 9/8+7/8, 3/8+5/8, 5/8+5/8+6/8 etc
Straight Grooves: Nothing really odd here, just well-played grooves suitable for progressive rock, fusion, classic rock and other advanced styles.
The Four/Four pack will be available later in the summer of 2008. Stay tuned for more info!

Crazy Preview
We are working hard on completing the new MIDI library Crazy Drumming, and it's looking (and sounding!) really good so far, and guess what, here comes sneak preview. The grooves are tentative and may differ somewhat from the future version, but they are a pretty good hint of how things will sound. In case you're wondering, the time signature is 19/16.
