Funky Drumming

Inspired by funk artists such as James Brown and Tower of Power, OddGrooves Funky Drumming is a collection of MIDI funk drum loops intended for composers, producers and musicians who want to have access to a great drummer without all the hassle of booking studio time, setting up microphones, waiting for the session drummer to show up before you even can start recording. These loops will save you lots of time and headache.

The loops are easy to use, simply drag them into your arrangement and start using them in your music. Have an almost-finished funk tune that needs that little extra spark? Try these funk drum loops. Or use them as a source of inspiration for a new funk composition. Or why not for practice to get that Larry Graham thumb thang going.

  • 225 funk drum loops
  • Most loops are 8 bars long, but there are also 4, 16 and other lengths included)
  • Arranged for EZdrummer, Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums, Steven Slate Drums 4, Sonic Reality I-Map and General MIDI
  • Tempos range from 80 BPM to 138 BPM
  • Several different funk styles (including  “Popcorn”, “TOP”, shuffle, fusion and other styles)

Not Quantized!

Do you want perfect, quantized loops, neatly aligned on the 16th-note bars in your sequencer? Do you want super-clean beats without the slightest trace of grit? Then these funk drum loops are probably not for you, and you’ll be better off programming them yourself. The funk is not about perfect, it’s about groove and attitude, and these loops have plenty of that. All OddGrooves drum loops have that human feel that can only be achieved by having a real drummer in the studio to record actual live performances – and the funk pack is no exception. All loops were recorded by Berklee-educated professional session drummer Magnus Brandell, and they have NOT been quantized.

Customer testimonial

“Hey Per, I bought your funk MIDI drumloops for use in some tracks I’m writing as part of my score for BAFTA’s behind-the-scenes documentary (using them in SD2.0). I’m really impressed with them, they’re so naturally recorded and you’ve managed to pick up all the nuances and ghosting as well as give a good variety of loops that build together well. They’ve really helped build a strong foundation to my tracks … I’ll definitely be back for more.” Stu Kennedy
